Third-party supplemental needs trusts are a cornerstone of special needs planning, allowing families to provide financial support to a beneficiary with disabilities while preserving eligibility for means-tested public benefits such as Medicaid and Supplemental Security Income. However, even the most carefully drafted trust will fail to accomplish its purpose if it is not properly funded.
This program focuses on the critical—and often overlooked—step of funding the third-party SNT. Attendees will gain a practical understanding of how to ensure that assets are effectively transferred to the trust during life and at death, and how to coordinate the trust with the client’s broader estate plan.
